Galeria Feliz de Arte in Ladoeiro, Castelo Branco, Portugal, exhibits permanently mouth-blown glass. There are some Art objects, there is design and there are gifts. The collection consists of both glass and crystal objects. There are both utensils and decorative objects. For example, there are vases and bowls of glass, drinking glasses, human figures, animal figures and tulips in addition to more abstract forms, which are based on water droplets or fruit, for example.

The varied glass collection of Galeria Feliz de Arte comes from different countries, made by glassblowers, glass masters and glass artists from Italy, Poland, Russia, the Czech Republic and Sweden from famous glass brands such as Borowski, Fidrio, Kosta Boda, Loranto, Orrefors and Ozzaro. Manufacturing
handmade glass

All glass objects are hand-blown and shaped by hand. Usually designs are made in smaller or larger series, in order to keep production profitable. There are always nuances of shape and colour with objects from the same series. The internal structure also often looks slightly different. This also applies to the size, weight and proportions of each object. Every traditionally made glass object is therefore different and therefore unique.
All glass objects from the collection of Galeria Feliz de Arte in Ladoeiro started as a shapeless substance of glass. It is liquefied in a specially designated glass furnace. During a labor-intensive production process, the hot glass is processed. Glassblowers work the hot glass mass while blowing on their blowpipe in the vicinity of the glass furnace.

With the help of all kinds of metal pliers-shaped tools and by turning the glass blowpipe, they change the shape of the glass object in the making. Sometimes several glassblowers work together on the creation of the glass object. In the end, each object is manipulated into a final shape, after a large number of temporary shapes have preceded it. The bowl, vase or abstract shape is then tapped loose or cut off from the blowpipe and then cooled to the end product.

There are various auxiliary techniques to further refine the mouth-blown glass object after cooling. For example, glass can be polished, engraved or sandblasted. The glass fusion technique consists of fusing two or more objects together. It is also possible to assemble a glass object from different cooled parts of glass, by gluing them together with special glass glue.
